Word is breaking that Jeff Conolly of DMZ and the Lyres has passed on the great beyond and Disaster Amnesiac thinks back to a gig that a cool chick named Kathy took me to, and the 9:30 Club in D.C., probably 1988. The Lyres were a stunning live band and Jeff was the man that took them into zones of absolute bonkers Rock 'n Roll madness. An unforgettable show, and he had that same effect to many others, no doubt about it. He was a truly wild Rock 'n Roll performer and musician and America loses yet another of its original cultural voices with his leaving. Another Goodby 20th Century event. Rock on Mono Mann.
